I am excited to have been interviewed on Gil Pagan's podcast. Gil and I spent an hour discussing North Carolina issues: Affordability, Taxes, Public safety, School Safety, School Choice, Housing and how I plan to address them in the NC House. You can fast forward to about the 7:35 mark to catch the full interview.

That is why I took time off the campaign trail to read to a class. As a former teacher, I know firsthand many students need extra help outside the classroom but not all parents can afford that support. I am happy to report Senate Republicans overrode Gov. Josh Stein’s veto of House Bill 87, the “Educational Choice for Children Act,” which ensures North Carolina residents can participate in a federal tax credit program if they donate to certain nonprofits that provide scholarships to students.
Forty-five percent of North Carolina public school students are still not meeting grade-level proficiency, but my opponent, Julie von Haefen, voted against access to this no-cost to NC, educationally diverse program. During our affordability crisis she is denying children who come from economically disadvantaged homes vital education support.
I'm grateful to the General Assembly for seizing this incredible opportunity from the federal government to help students from all backgrounds thrive.
A TAX REVOLUTION?? I have attended every House Select Committee meeting on Tax Reduction and Reform. Last night, I listened to the concerns of a group at the Cary Town Council meeting protesting Cary property tax increases. Later, that same night, I headed over to Holly Springs to engage with citizens regarding the Wake County tax increase. The people are not speaking, they are shouting, “WE NEED RELIEF!” It’s time we hear them!
That is why I support the proposed Constitutional Amendments, one that would institute a tax levy limit that would not reduce services, but would incorporate guardrails on tax hikes, and one that replaces the state income tax cap from 7% to 3.5%. I am also focusing in on zero based budgeting, whereby, governments would build budgets from the ground up each cycle ensuring each expense, program, and activity is justified in the current climate.
